Central Bank of Bahrain Joins National Tree Week Initiative

Manama:In alignment with the National Action Plan initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality, the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) took part in the "National Tree Week" by planting a tree at its premises. This initiative was led by Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the CBB, alongside several CBB officials.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the establishment of "National Tree Week" is under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following an announcement by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The CBB Governor emphasized the significance of "National Tree Week" in fostering a culture of tree planting, enhancing environmental awareness, and motivating community and institutional involvement in efforts to conserve the environment and its natural resources. This reflects the Kingdom's commitment to achieving its environmental and sustainable development targets.

The CBB's participation supports national initiatives to cultivate a culture of sustainability, increase green spaces, and further Bahrain's afforestation plan. This plan aims to double the number of trees to 3.6 million by 2035, in accordance with the Kingdom's obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
