Manama: Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the General Sports Authority (GSA), stated that the authority's collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs on sports programmes and activities at Youth City 2030 aligns with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The initiative aims to foster integration among national institutions, promote sports as a cornerstone for youth development, empower young individuals, nurture talents, and support Bahrain's vision of investing in national capabilities to build a more creative and distinguished generation.According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Askar expressed the GSA's pride in collaborating with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) as a strategic partner, Tarteeb Events and Marketing, Winners Football Club, and Exhibition World Bahrain to execute the Summer Sports City project. This initiative is an enhanced version of the sports centre within the Youth City 2030 programme.The partnership seeks t o provide young people with a comprehensive sports experience through a modern and interactive environment featuring a range of sports and activities. The project aims to identify talent, develop capabilities, promote sports culture, encourage healthy lifestyles, support youth empowerment goals, and enhance participation in sports and community activities.Dr. Askar mentioned that the GSA will offer technical supervision for all sports programmes and activities within the Summer Sports City project. The authority will also deliver technical, organisational, and media support, leveraging its expertise to ensure activities are conducted to the highest standards and achieve the desired outcomes.He explained that the diversity of sports programmes and activities, tailored to different youth age groups, will encourage participants to adopt healthy lifestyles through sport. It will introduce them to various sporting disciplines and provide a platform to identify promising athletes. These athletes can then connec t with development and qualification programmes implemented by the GSA in cooperation with sports federations and clubs, contributing to the preparation of athletes capable of representing Bahrain in various sporting events.Dr. Askar concluded by stating that the partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs in organising sports activities within Youth City 2030 serves as a successful model of cooperation among government entities. It reflects the sports leadership's commitment to supporting young people through programmes that combine recreation and development, ultimately contributing to preparing a more active and innovative generation capable of supporting Bahrain's continued development and achievements.
