Manama: Government hospitals marked World Radiography Day, observed annually on November 8, to recognise the vital role of medical imaging in disease diagnosis and healthcare advancement. Dr. Hazem Habib Al Aali, Chief of Medical Services For Surgical Departments at Government Hospitals, stated that the radiology department at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) performs over 1,000 imaging procedures daily, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds, amounting to more than 269,000 annually.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Jalila Al Sayed Adnan, Head of the Radiology Department at SMC, revealed that the department is undergoing upgrades to streamline operations, reduce waiting times for ultrasound and MRI scans by half, and improve service quality through workflow restructuring and development projects. She noted that these enhancements reflect improved coordination among medical, technical, and administrative teams, resulting in faster and more accurate diagnostic services.
Dr. Jalila Al Sayed Adnan also mentioned that several doctors and technicians have gained regional recognition for their research and scientific papers, showcasing the competence of national medical staff. She emphasized the department's commitment to modernizing equipment and training to maintain safe, advanced diagnostic services aligned with international standards.
