Manama:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Malaysia's Foreign Minister, during the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the two ministers emphasized the strong relationship between Bahrain and Malaysia, expressing a shared commitment to further expand cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest.
Dr. Al Zayani congratulated Minister Haji Hassan on Malaysia hosting the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, an event supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim of Malaysia, and directed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He wished Malaysia ongoing success in hosting the event.
Minister Haji Hassan praised the development of bilateral ties and affirmed Malaysia's dedication to strengthening cooperation in various areas. He commended the organization of the Bahrain Grand Prix, attributing it to the close ties between the two countries. He also welcomed the opening of Bahrain's Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, noting its importance in advancing bilateral relations.
The meeting reviewed existing agreements and memoranda of understanding to enhance political and diplomatic coordination, support in international forums, and cooperation on regional and international security.
The discussions included regional developments, particularly the impact of threats to navigation freedom and safety in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab on global trade, energy, and food supplies. Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Bahrain's Ambassador to Malaysia, was also present at the meeting.
