Cairo: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting of the Ministerial Committee tasked with international action to confront illegal Israeli policies and practices in Jerusalem. The meeting took place at the Arab League headquarters and was chaired by Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the sidelines of the 163rd Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee reviewed Israeli violations and transgressions in Jerusalem, focusing on the efforts and initiatives undertaken by member states in their engagement with influential international actors to confront these violations. The meeting also aimed at formulating a unified Arab response to halt such practices.
A joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the meeting, condemning Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and describing them as blatant breaches of international law and a dangerous escalation. The statement rejected policies targeting the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of Jerusalem and its religious sanctities, emphasizing that these actions undermine the historical and legal status quo.
The committee further condemned provocative visits by extremist Israeli ministers and officials to Al Aqsa Mosque and criticized the Israeli government’s escalating measures aimed at altering the city’s historical and legal status.
