Foreign Minister Engages in GCC Virtual Consultative Meeting

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a remote consultative meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The ministers exchanged views on the latest regional developments, reviewed the progress of ongoing negotiations, and discussed efforts to advance them toward practical understandings that would help reduce tensions and strengthen regional security and stability.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers also discussed means to enhance coordination and consultation among GCC member states on issues related to the freedom and safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions aimed to safeguard the rites of passage and transit, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of shipping, trade, and vital supplies in accordance with international law, while respecting the sovereign rights of all littoral states bordering the Gulf.

The ministers underscored the importance of continued joint action, prioritising political and diplomatic solutions, and fostering conditions conducive to confidence-building and achieving mutually acceptable outcomes for all parties.
