New York:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in a high-level ministerial meeting on climate security. This closed-door event was hosted by the United Kingdom at its residence in New York, coinciding with the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting, initiated by an invitation from Ed Miliband, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, gathered several foreign ministers.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, the meeting focused on the increasing impact of climate and environmental risks on international security and stability. Discussions covered cross-border challenges such as food and water security, energy security, economic stability, and supply chains. Participants also deliberated on improving risk assessment mechanisms, setting shared priorities, and promoting joint actions in these areas.
