Environment Minister Attends Launch of First ChemSafe 2025 Conference and Exhibition

Manama: Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, attended the opening of the first International Chemical Safety Conference and Exhibition (ChemSafe 2025), hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from October 27-30 at the Gulf Hotel under the theme "Chemistry For a Safe Environment".

According to Bahrain News Agency, the event is organised by the Bahrain Society of Chemists and Al Mashreq Training, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Environment. It brings together experts, decision-makers, and specialists from around the world to highlight best international practices and standards in chemical safety, aiming to promote a culture of prevention and safety in handling hazardous materials.

Dr. Bin Dainah stated that chemical safety is a national priority due to its role in protecting people and the environment, as well as ensuring the sustainability of Bahrain's industrial development. The conference reflects Bahrain's commitment to applying high standards of safety and prevention, aligning with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and efforts to enhance environmental and health security locally and internationally.

He mentioned that the event serves as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange among experts and decision-makers, showcasing the latest technologies and methods in managing chemicals and related risks. Technologies such as artificial intelligence are crucial for improving chemical safety systems by analysing data, predicting risks, and enhancing emergency response.

The minister also stressed the importance of investing in Bahraini human capital to achieve sustainability and industrial growth. He highlighted the ministry's initiatives to train and empower young national talent with skills in safety, risk management, and industrial digital transformation, enhancing the Kingdom's competitiveness regionally and globally.

The conference featured scientific sessions and workshops with over 60 international experts from global organisations and leading companies, including Saudi Aramco, Bapco Energies, Alba, and GPIC. The event's significance lies in promoting expertise exchange and best global practices in chemical and industrial safety.

Discussions included key topics related to industry and safety in the region, such as leadership in safety, chemical and operational safety, risk management, emergency response, human and behavioural factors in safety management, environmental sustainability, protection of industrial resources, and laboratory and facility security.

On the sidelines, Dr. Bin Dainah toured the accompanying exhibition, featuring participants from over 15 countries showcasing the latest solutions, technologies, and services in chemical and industrial safety. This exhibition aims to promote innovation and foster public-private cooperation in advancing global safety practices.
