Egypt Condemns Renewed Iranian Attacks on UAE and Jordan

Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned renewed Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, including a drone intercepted by air defence systems over UAE territorial waters, and expressed its full solidarity with the UAE and rejection of any attack threatening its security and the safety of its citizens.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates expressed deep concern over the renewed attacks, which also targeted Jordan, saying they pose a direct threat to the security and safety of both countries and risk widening the confrontation and undermining prospects for restoring stability in the region, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

Egypt reiterated its full solidarity with the UAE and Jordan, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and safeguard maritime security and freedom of navigation in maritime corridors and straits in accordance with international law. It also warned of the serious repercussions of continued escalation on regional security and stability.

Egypt stressed the need to halt the attacks, de-escalate tensions, return to the negotiating table, and allow diplomatic efforts to reach solutions that contribute to restoring security and stability and prevent a wider confrontation in the region.
