Manama: Marking Human Rights Day, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, highlighted the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to advance national initiatives that uphold human rights and bolster social justice. He emphasized that these efforts are grounded in the humanitarian principles set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and are aligned with the Royal directives that prioritize the preservation of human dignity as part of the national reform and sustainable development project.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid underscored the support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This support focuses on empowering individuals, protecting their rights, and developing programs that contribute to social justice. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, also supports these humanitarian initiatives, particularly through the "Fael Khair" programme, which assists those with unpaid loans.
In an effort to maximize the initiative's humanitarian impact, the General Directorate is implementing plans for a full digital transformation to enhance responsiveness and service efficiency. These plans include developing an application for the "Fael Khair" programme, allowing individuals with unpaid loans to apply for assistance. This digital approach enables supporters to offer help directly, safely, and transparently.
Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid announced that the next phase will focus on addressing the needs of individuals with unpaid loans by providing suitable employment opportunities in collaboration with relevant entities. This initiative aims to help individuals achieve family stability. Additionally, plans are underway to develop early-intervention mechanisms in partnership with the banking sector to explore settlement options and reorganize financial situations, preventing complete default and improving prospects for long-term financial recovery.
The Director-General affirmed that the "Fael Khair" initiative is a model of humanitarian work, achieving exceptional results. The programme has benefited 817 individuals and settled 1,631 financial cases worth 3,620,774 Bahraini dinars. Effective partnerships with various institutions and contributions from donors have resulted in the settlement of over 200 financial cases and donations exceeding 600,000 Bahraini dinars to support eligible individuals.
Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid expressed gratitude to all donors and contributors, noting that their generosity reflects the humanitarian and societal values that distinguish the Kingdom. He also commended the efforts of social media content creators whose engagement has been pivotal in raising awareness and extending the programme's reach.
The Director-General concluded by emphasizing Bahrain's long-standing commitment to protecting human rights and supporting those in need, which is deeply rooted in the nation's values of generosity and humanity. The positive outcomes of the "Fael Khair" programme underscore the importance of humanitarian work in building a cohesive society founded on justice and solidarity.
