Director-General of Legal Affairs Advocates for Unified Arab Action on Human Rights

Manama: Ambassador Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director-General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 58th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights of the League of Arab States, held at the League's General Secretariat in Cairo from 13 to 14 July 2026.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting addressed various agenda items, including the advancement of joint Arab efforts in human rights, coordination among member states, and initiatives aimed at boosting regional human rights protection mechanisms. Ambassador Dr. Bucheeri reaffirmed Bahrain's dedication to supporting collective Arab actions to fortify the human rights system, adhering to international law, the Charter of the League of Arab States, and fostering cooperation among member states for regional stability and human rights protection.

In his address, Ambassador Dr. Bucheeri highlighted the significance of including recent Iranian attacks against GCC member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Committee's recommendations, categorizing them as breaches of international law and the UN Charter with critical humanitarian and human rights impacts. He underscored that a coordinated Arab stance would bolster international initiatives, especially within the UN Human Rights Council, to counter these violations and reinforce the adherence to international law and human rights standards.
