Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 307th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure. The committee extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Hijri New Year 1448 AH, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people continued progress and prosperity, and the Arab and Islamic nations lasting security and stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee expressed appreciation to His Majesty the King for ratifying and promulgating Law (25) of 2026 amending certain provisions of Decree-Law (28) of 1999 concerning the establishment and regulation of industrial zones, and Law (29) of 2026 amending certain provisions of Decree-Law (4) of 1985 regulating agricultural banks. The committee commended the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives for approving the two draft laws, noting that this reflects the constructive cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities in support of the Kingdom's comprehensive development efforts.
The committee congratulated the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture on signing an agreement with Batelco, part of Beyon Group, for the operation and investment of 10 digital advertising screens along Muharraq Ring Road for a period of five years. This step supports investment partnerships and aligns with urban development initiatives. Additionally, the committee praised the efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and congratulated the ministry on the commencement of foundation works for a project comprising 44 new housing units in Salman City. The project is part of a broader plan to deliver 137 housing units in partnership with the private sector under the Government Land Development Rights Programme, which supports ongoing efforts to provide social housing for citizens.
The committee reviewed the items on its agenda and tasked the Urban Planning and Development Authority, in coordination with the Ministry of Works, with reserving the corridor for the Western Ring Road parallel to Crown Prince Highway. This extension, from Jasra Interchange to Zaid bin Omaira Road Interchange, aims to ensure the integration of future road network planning. Furthermore, the committee was briefed on the latest developments regarding the extension of irrigation networks for the Muharraq Development Project and tasked the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture with taking the necessary measures in this regard.
