Customs President and Italian Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Manama: Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, received Andrea Catalano, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain: The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the customs field, especially following the visit of the Italian Special Envoy to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The discussions highlighted the growing interest in strengthening Bahrain's role in this initiative.

According to Bahrain News Agency, both parties explored the potential for cooperation in customs and logistics under the existing cooperation agreement between Bahrain and Italy. This agreement has already led to the creation of a joint working group and facilitated exchanges between specialised delegations. The goal is to enhance customs efficiency, improve technical and technological collaboration, support trade exchange, ease the movement of goods, and bolster the security of customs ports.

The discussions underscored the importance of continued coordination and the sharing of expertise to serve mutual interests and further bilateral relations between Bahrain and Italy.
