Manama: The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has issued new instructions requiring all government entities to establish Equal Opportunity Committees aimed at promoting gender equality in policies, plans, and budgets.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, CSB President, emphasized Bahrain's ongoing commitment to gender balance. This commitment is guided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the Supreme Council for Women playing a key role in implementing related national policies.
Each committee, chaired by a senior official and including representatives from key departments such as human resources and finance, will coordinate efforts to support women employees, improve workplace conditions, and ensure equal opportunities in hiring, training, promotion, and representation.
Committees are also responsible for raising awareness through training and workshops and must submit annual reports tracking progress in gender equality to the Supreme Council for Women and the Civil Service Bureau. The committees serve two-year terms, renewable, and operate within their respective government bodies.
