Manama: The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has achieved a significant international milestone by winning two Stevie Awards for its "Munasaha" and "Ta'afi" programmes. This accomplishment marks another addition to the Ministry of Interior's record of achievements, emphasizing its commitment to developing security work through modern and innovative methods. The "Munasaha" Programme received the Gold Award in the Thought Leadership Campaign of the Year category, while the "Ta'afi" Programme secured the Silver Award in the Achievement in Innovative Public Engagement and Community Impact category.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Major General Abdulaziz Mayouf Al Rumaihi, Director General of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, congratulated General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, on this notable achievement. Al Rumaihi highlighted the Minister's ongoing support for development efforts and dedication to adopting innovative strategies to enhance the Ministry's capabilities in executing its security duties. This achievement is seen as a testament to the Ministry's commitment to improving the security system through modern methods.
Al Rumaihi also acknowledged the significant role played by Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Police, whose continuous oversight of the directorate's efforts and programmes has been crucial in enhancing performance. This oversight supports initiatives aimed at protecting young people from crime, promoting prevention and awareness, and strengthening community partnerships.
He elaborated on the "Munasaha" and "Ta'afi" programmes, which are part of the National Plan to Combat Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances. These programmes employ modern approaches and innovative scientific plans to aid beneficiaries and promote behavioural reform, aligning with national efforts to combat drug abuse and mitigate its effects on individuals and society.
The "Munasaha" Programme focuses on reforming young people's behaviour and guiding them towards the correct path, while the "Ta'afi" Programme targets drug users, especially youth, by facilitating their reintegration into society. It aims to transition them from drug use to recovery, restoring hope, self-confidence, and enhancing communication between security personnel and the community. This initiative supports community partnership, maintains family cohesion, and prevents family disintegration.
