Manama:The Court of Cassation has upheld the convictions of several defendants who were sentenced to imprisonment for supporting Iranian terrorist attacks against Bahrain. These individuals were involved in capturing prohibited photographs and videos, obtaining and disseminating sensitive data, and spreading false news and rumors through social media.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the convictions followed investigations by the Public Prosecution, initiated after receiving reports from the Anti-Cybercrime Directorate. These reports detailed the defendants' social media activities, which included supportive expressions for the Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, unauthorized photography at restricted locations, and the spread of misleading information that could threaten public security and morale.
The Public Prosecution presented their findings and evidence, leading to the defendants' trials in the High Criminal Court. Throughout the hearings, the defendants were afforded all necessary legal protections. Ultimately, they were convicted and received sentences ranging from five to ten years in prison, along with fines and the confiscation of seized items.
