Coast Guard Urges Divers to Follow Marine Safety Guidelines

Manama: The Interior Ministry affirmed that the Coast Guard continues its awareness efforts to enhance marine safety and reduce accidents during diving activities.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Coast Guard urged divers to obtain the necessary training and qualifications, ensure they are physically and medically fit to dive, plan their diving trips in advance, check weather, sea and water current conditions, and inform the Coast Guard station of the diving location, time, and expected return time.

The Coast Guard highlighted the importance of inspecting diving equipment and breathing regulators, ensuring connections are secure, and checking the air level in the cylinder, as well as maintaining equipment regularly. Divers were also advised to review the dive plan and communication signals with their diving partner before entering the water, avoid diving alone, maintain communication, and stay close to other participants in the trip to provide assistance when needed.

The Coast Guard also stressed the importance of drinking enough water after diving and monitoring one's health. Divers should seek immediate medical assistance if they experience persistent dizziness, difficulty breathing, or any unusual symptoms. In marine emergencies, the Coast Guard urged the public to contact its hotline at (994).
