Chief of Police and New York City Fire Commissioner Explore Enhanced Cooperation

Jordan: New York City Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Police and Chairman of the National Civil Emergency Management Committee, met with Lilian Bonsignore, Commissioner of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), during a visit to the United States.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in civil protection and emergency response, as well as exchanging expertise and best practices. The discussions aimed at strengthening preparedness to address evolving challenges in firefighting, rescue operations, and disaster management.

Lieutenant General Al Hassan highlighted the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States. He noted the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, which support a strategic approach to risk management, enhance crisis response, and ensure the sustainability of vital services.

The dialogue between the two sides also covered the use of modern technologies and innovation to improve operational readiness. They emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation through specialized training programs, exchange visits, technical expertise, and capacity-building initiatives.

On the sidelines of the visit, Lieutenant General Al Hassan and his delegation toured the New York City Fire Academy. They were briefed on the Academy's specialized training facilities, modern equipment, and simulation systems used to prepare firefighters for emergency situations.
