Manama: The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) has been accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) as an authorised Training Center, enabling it to deliver internationally recognised AHA programmes. The programmes include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid and emergency care courses, with advanced programmes to be introduced at a later stage in accordance with AHA guidelines.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the accreditation enables the BRCS Training Center to offer AHA programmes in line with international standards, with a focus on practical application. Participants will acquire skills to respond effectively to emergencies at home, in the workplace and in public settings until professional help arrives.
BRCS stated that the accreditation marks a significant development in its training activities and reflects its commitment to regularly updating programme content and adopting evidence-based practices in health training. It also aligns with AHA efforts to improve community preparedness and promote health awareness.
The society highlighted that its recognition as an authorised Training Center complements its role as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It noted that the humanitarian principles of the Movement align with AHA efforts to raise awareness, promote prevention and equip individuals with skills to respond quickly in life-threatening situations.
The accreditation forms part of BRCS efforts to broaden access to health training and reach more members of the community. Through basic and advanced programmes, the society aims to strengthen emergency response awareness and individuals' ability to act effectively in critical situations.
