Manama: The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) has announced that more than 1,600 Bahrainis have been trained to use artificial intelligence in the workplace to enhance productivity and performance, as part of a national initiative launched last year. The milestone reflects growing interest in professional skills that support modern ways of working.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative forms part of national efforts to develop human capital by equipping workers with practical skills that help them use artificial intelligence tools to speed up task completion, improve access to information, and support decision-making, thereby enhancing productivity and performance.
The programme targets Bahraini employees across key sectors, including financial services, insurance, and real estate. It has been designed to suit different professional backgrounds and job levels, from employees to executives, without requiring a specialised technical background.
Since its launch in 2025, the programme has benefited more than 1,600 Bahrainis, with the total number of trainees expected to reach around 2,000 by the end of the year, reflecting the expansion of the initiative and continued demand from workers in the targeted sectors.
Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, Chief Executive Officer of BIBF, stated that the current challenge is not access to technology, but the ability to use it in ways that improve productivity and performance. He noted that reaching more than 1,600 Bahrainis reflects growing interest in practical skills that help individuals and organisations make more effective use of artificial intelligence. BIBF remains focused on developing national capabilities and empowering Bahraini talent with the skills required for modern workplaces, contributing to a more prepared workforce and a more competitive national economy.
This achievement further highlights the Institute's role in supporting the development of national skills and strengthening the readiness of the Bahraini labour market for future requirements.
