Batelco and Cisco Join Forces to Upgrade Bahrain’s Network Infrastructure

Manama: Batelco by Beyon has entered into an agreement with Cisco to modernise its IP Backbone infrastructure. This strategic collaboration aims to enhance Batelco's network capabilities, providing faster and more resilient connectivity for its Mobile, Fixed, and Enterprise customers across Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Cisco will deliver advanced networking capabilities to Batelco, including cutting-edge routing, automation, and intelligent monitoring tools. This upgrade is set to improve network performance and establish a strong foundation for AI-driven network operations, aligning with Bahrain's digital transformation objectives. The enhancements are expected to facilitate improved service quality and support future technological advancements such as 5G-Advanced, 6G readiness, IoT, network slicing, and cloud-native service delivery.

Rashid Mohammed, Chief Technology Officer at Batelco, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in modernising Batelco's IP backbone. He highlighted that the partnership will make the network future-ready and capable of supporting AI-powered digital services throughout Bahrain, thus advancing the nation's digital goals.

Zayan Sadek, Managing Director for Service Providers at Cisco MEA, remarked on the benefits of the partnership, noting that it will help Batelco evolve its network through automation and intelligence, leading to greater efficiency, scalability, and innovation.

This agreement underscores Batelco's commitment to investing in state-of-the-art infrastructure and supporting Bahrain's national vision for digital transformation and innovation.
