MANAMA: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a senior leader in Bahrain's sports community, has praised the national football team's recent success in securing a place in the final of the 26th Gulf Cup, known as Khaleeji Zain 26, after a narrow 1-0 victory against Kuwait in the semi-finals.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid, who holds multiple influential positions including First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, lauded the team's performance and highlighted the comprehensive preparations facilitated by the Bahrain Football Association. He acknowledged the players, technical and administrative staff for their efforts and the high spirit displayed throughout the competition, as well as the crucial support provided by Bahraini fans.
Shaikh Khalid expressed optimism about the team's prospects in the upcoming final against Oman. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified team spirit, which he believes is critical to securing the championship title for only the second time in Bahrain's history.
