Manama: The Joint Higher Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait convened for its twelfth meeting, chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait. The meeting was marked by discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the enduring ties between Bahrain and Kuwait, emphasizing their evolution under the guidance of their respective leaders, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. The Bahraini Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to his Kuwaiti counterpart for his efforts to enhance cooperation in various sectors, underscoring the importance of shared values and interests.
The discussions focused on continuing collaboration between the foreign ministries on regional and international issues, with attention to regional security and stability. Dr. Al Zayani stressed the significance of coordination within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), especially during Bahrain's presidency, and noted Bahrain's non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term, highlighting the potential to leverage Kuwait's past diplomatic experience.
Minister Al Yahya reiterated the commitment to strengthening the longstanding relations between Bahrain and Kuwait, guided by their leaders' directives. He expressed optimism that the meeting's outcomes would bolster cooperation, commending Bahrain's leadership in the GCC and its role on the international stage.
Both sides reviewed progress in various sectors, including investment, finance, commerce, and development, exploring further cooperation opportunities. Political coordination and consultation in international forums were also discussed, with a focus on Bahrain's upcoming role in the United Nations Security Council.
The committee addressed current regional and international challenges impacting security and stability, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts. The meeting concluded with the signing of joint minutes and an agreement to hold the next committee meeting in Kuwait at a date to be determined through diplomatic channels.
Following the meeting, Minister Al Yahya visited the Al Madar Centre at the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he received briefings on the centre's activities in monitoring developments and preparing political analyses.
The Bahraini delegation included several key officials, such as Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al Ansari, and Salah Ali Al Maliki, among others.
