Bahrain Turf Series 2025 Opener Attracts Strong International Contenders

MANAMA: Excitement is mounting as the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club prepares to host the second round of the 2025 Bahrain Turf Series this Friday, January 3. The event, part of the Club's 11th race of the season, will feature an impressive lineup of top horses, owners, and trainers from across the globe. According to Bahrain News Agency, the racing event is supported by a host of prominent sponsors. Platinum sponsors include Bapco Energies, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Beyon, National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Cebarco, Howden, and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo. Gold sponsors are Al Salam Bank, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), Texel Air, Gulf Air (Official Carrier), Lexus (Official Car) by Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo, and Bahrain Jewellery Centre - Grand Seiko (Official Watch). The Bahrain Turf Series has significantly enhanced the Kingdom of Bahrain's stature in global equestrian sports, drawing high-ranking international horses, trainers, and jockeys. It also plays a crucial role in the development of local racing, o rganized by the REHC. The Series consists of 12 rounds spread across various racing evenings, with two rounds taking place per evening during the racing season. The first round of the Series was held on Friday, December 20, 2024. In that event, the Bahraini horse Swift Asset secured victory in the first round, while the Irish horse Snellen triumphed in the second round. The Series will continue until its final round in March 2025. The upcoming 11th race will feature eight races, including the third and fourth rounds of the Series. The third round, competing for the Al Dana Cup over a distance of 2,000 meters, will see 16 entries from both local and international stables. Participants include Locander, Bond's Boy, Merlin's Beard, Majestic, Bleak, Gulmarg, Killybeg's Warrior, Lion of War, Signalman, Snellen, Mr Alan, Elwasme, Box to Box, West Suffolk, Vegas Jack, and Soldier's Empire. The fourth round, the Al Riffa Cup sponsored by BBK, involves a 1,200-meter sprint for Handicap (Imported) horses, featuring 18 contenders: Get It, Deep Intrigue, Jubilee Walk, Salvuccio, Mehmento, Thunder Moor, Inveigle, Jehangeer, The Parent, Nomadic Empire, Rocket Rodney, Spangled Mac, Grand City Hall, Wallbank, Squealer, Desert Cop, Kiwano, and Roman Dragon. The Bahrain Turf Series continues to reinforce the Kingdom of Bahrain's reputation on the global horseracing stage while bolstering the local equestrian season.
