Manama: The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Space Agency convened for its second regular meeting of the year, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Adviser and Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council. The meeting witnessed the presence of board members and the agency's Chief Executive Officer.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali extended his appreciation for the efforts of the executive management and agency staff in executing strategic objectives and annual business plans. These efforts align with the objectives set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, and Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council.
The Board conducted a review of the agency's ongoing projects, evaluating progress on various initiatives and achievement rates against established performance indicators. Discussions included proposals for new projects and initiatives, alongside the agency's involvement in regional and international events, underscoring its commitment to bolstering Bahrain's international presence and fostering collaboration with global space entities.
Additionally, the Board assessed the progress in implementing prior decisions and recommendations to ensure the continuity of institutional operations in accordance with approved plans, governance standards, and institutional transparency.
The meeting featured discussions on prospective initiatives and projects aimed at advancing Bahrain's national space sector and enhancing the Kingdom's international standing. These initiatives are part of the agency's 2024-2028 strategy, which emphasizes infrastructure development, national capacity building, and reinforcing Bahrain's role in the space sector.
Board members praised the agency's services, initiatives, and research projects conducted in partnership with higher education institutions and specialized research centers. They noted these efforts' role in raising awareness of space's significance and its applications in supporting the scientific community, as well as enhancing services provided by beneficiary entities. The Board also acknowledged the expertise and contributions of the agency's staff, emphasizing its ongoing support for the agency's endeavors to achieve further accomplishments that elevate Bahrain's position in the space sector.
