Manama:Bahrain won two gold medals on the opening day of the athletics competitions at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Winfred Yavi claimed the gold medal in the women's 10,000 metres. Bahrain also triumphed in the mixed 4x400 metre relay, earning its second gold on the same day.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Head of Bahrain's delegation to the Asian Games, was present at the events. He praised the athletes for their determination and competitive spirit.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali also acknowledged the efforts of the Bahrain Athletics Association, along with the technical and administrative teams, and expressed optimism for further success in the upcoming competitions.
