Bahrain Opens Applications for 53rd Annual Fine Arts Exhibition

Hanoi:Applications are now open for the 53rd Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this exhibition, which commenced in 1972, serves as a platform for a variety of contemporary artistic practices. This year, the exhibition will be themed "In Circulation," focusing on the various forms of circulation within human and visual discourse and their relation to creativity and innovation in artistic practices.

Al Riwaq Art Space will act as the exhibition's curator as part of its community partnership with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. The collaboration is intended to foster innovation in the use of different media by artists and support the growth of Bahrain's local art scene.

The theme "In Circulation" delves into the movement of objects, images, ideas, aesthetics, and cultural identities across different geographical, digital, and economic contexts. It examines how these elements change in form, meaning, and significance as they traverse different environments.

The exhibition also explores the processes of translation, reproduction, exchange, and reinterpretation that occur with the movement of cultural and creative forms beyond their original contexts. It highlights how circulation can lead to new encounters and collaboration while also potentially simplifying complexities and obscuring origins.

Artists interested in participating are encouraged to review the submission requirements and procedures on the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities' official website and submit their applications by November 15, 2026.
