Manama: The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) has launched its Young Editors Programme as part of Youth City 2030, an initiative organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in collaboration with its strategic partner, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). The programme is designed to develop the skills of young talent and provide them with practical knowledge and hands-on experience required for journalism and media careers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme includes practical field training that enables participants to produce professional news reports covering Youth City 2030 activities. These reports adhere to the professional standards followed by official news agencies. Outstanding participants will have the opportunity to publish their work on BNA's platforms, providing a pathway into the journalism and media profession.
At the programme's commencement, Mohamed Al Buainain, Noreen Al Thawadi, and Jassim Amer delivered an introductory presentation on BNA. They reviewed the agency's role as Bahrain's official news source and introduced participants to editorial workflows, news writing and editing techniques, and the importance of verifying information. This provided an overview of the working environment and requirements of official news agencies.
Tawfeeq Al Wedaei, trainer of the BNA Young Editors Programme, explained that the programme is designed as a comprehensive practical training experience. It focuses on equipping participants with fundamental and advanced skills in news writing and editing. The programme aims to prepare a new generation of media professionals capable of producing accurate and credible news content.
Al Wedaei highlighted that the programme will emphasize planning and producing professional news features, including developing story ideas, interview questions, and conducting interviews. Participants will also receive training in news photography and field reporting. The practical component forms the core of the programme, with participants covering Youth City 2030 events, which will help develop their skills, strengthen their confidence, and prepare them for journalism and media careers. The programme also aims to identify promising talent and prepare them for Bahrain's national media future.
