Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Jos© Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain. During the call, the two ministers reviewed the strong and longstanding ties between Bahrain and Spain, and discussed means to further develop cooperation across various domains in support of the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers exchanged views on Bahrain's diplomatic efforts as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, including its presidency of the Council for the month of April. They highlighted Bahrain's role in advancing initiatives aimed at maintaining international peace and security, as well as promoting effective multilateral cooperation.
The Spanish Foreign Minister commended Bahrain's initiative to submit a draft resolution to the Security Council on ensuring the security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasised that the initiative reflects Bahrain's responsible and constructive role within the Council, contributing to the protection of international interests, the security of global energy and food supplies, and broader efforts to enhance regional stability and safeguard the global economy.
Both sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
