Doha: MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, Head of the Parliamentary Division delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated in the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) meeting held in Qatar. Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Shura Council Member, was also present.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saloom emphasized the Kingdom's significant position and growing trust at regional and international levels, attributing this to the leadership approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This approach focuses on collective action, responsible dialogue, and strengthening institutional frameworks for cooperation.
Al Saloom noted that the committee's role is strategic, linking the APA's political vision with its executive mechanisms, ensuring alignment of plans and budgets with priorities, and enhancing the credibility and effectiveness of parliamentary work across Asia.
He stated that the committee is crucial in improving the APA's institutional efficiency and ensuring the sustainability of its programs through sound financial planning, responsible resource management, and adherence to transparency and accountability.
Al Saloom expressed Bahrain's anticipation to preside over the sixteenth general session of the APA in early 2026. He views this as a shared duty and an opportunity to advance Asian parliamentary work, activate specialized committees, and ensure optimal use of resources while achieving a tangible impact through the Assembly's activities.
He also highlighted Bahrain's commitment to partnership and consultation with member states and the APA Secretariat to approve plans and budgets that align with future requirements.
