Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the renewed missile and drone attacks by Iran targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. These actions have been described by Bahrain as a violation of state sovereignty, posing a direct threat to civilian lives and escalating tensions in the region, which undermines security and stability. The attacks have been identified as a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bahrain's unwavering solidarity with the affected nations, supporting their right to implement lawful measures to defend their sovereignty and ensure the safety of their citizens and residents. This stance aligns with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The Ministry acknowledged the preparedness and effectiveness of the Bahrain Defence Force, alongside the armed forces and air defense units of the targeted countries, in successfully repelling the attacks and safeguarding civilians.
Bahrain has reiterated its call for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities by taking decisive measures to compel Iran to halt its aggressive actions, respect the sovereignty of other states, and adhere to the principles of good-neighbourliness. Additionally, Bahrain emphasized the importance of ensuring the freedom of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and other key waterways.
The Ministry underscored the need for Iran to be held accountable under international law and the UN Charter, which is viewed as a crucial step towards de-escalation and the bolstering of regional security, stability, and peace.
