Bahrain Chairs 42nd GCC Youth and Sports Undersecretaries Meeting

Manama: As part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Marwan Fouad Kamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, chaired the remote 42nd meeting of the GCC Committee of Undersecretaries of Youth and Sports Ministries. The Undersecretary highlighted the importance of maintaining communication and coordination and exchanging views and expertise on various issues related to Gulf youth and sports affairs, contributing to strengthening cooperation and integration among GCC states and supporting the development of joint work in the youth and sports sectors.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee discussed several agenda items, including the future work plan of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Youth and Sports for 2025 - 2030, approved Gulf activities and programmes, initiatives for Gulf Sports for All Day on December 12 and Gulf Youth Day on June 6, as well as recommendations of the technical committees for 2027.

The meeting also reviewed topics related to developing the Gulf youth affairs framework, including investment in the youth sector through private-sector partnerships, empowering creative, innovative and outstanding youth in GCC states in 2026, the Youth Creativity Award in the World of Data, and international cooperation in joint youth affairs, in addition to several topics and proposals under any other business.

The committee reached a number of recommendations on the topics discussed, ahead of submitting them to the meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Youth and Sports for consideration and necessary action.
