Bahrain Bourse Strengthens Ties with Muscat Stock Exchange Through Delegation Visit

Manama: Bahrain Bourse, a licensed exchange regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain, hosted a delegation from the Muscat Stock Exchange as part of efforts to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two exchanges.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit follows Bahrain Bourse's strategic engagement with the Muscat Stock Exchange in July 2026. This collaboration is part of the ongoing Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions, aimed at exploring mutual interests that support market development and operational excellence, and fostering closer collaboration across GCC capital markets.

The delegation from the Muscat Stock Exchange included representatives from Corporate Communication and Marketing, the Sustainable and Investments Centre, and Market Operations. The visit brought together expertise in market operations, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement.

During the five-day visit, the delegation participated in a series of meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions with Bahrain Bourse representatives and related parties. The discussions focused on capital market development, trading operations, investor engagement, sustainability, operational practices, and strategic initiatives aligned with evolving regional market priorities.

The program also included a site visit to the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, where the delegation toured the institute's facilities and gained insights into its specialized training and educational offerings. They were briefed on key initiatives and programs aimed at nurturing national talent and advancing human capital across the banking and financial sectors.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse, emphasized that the visit builds on the strong relations between the two exchanges and reflects their shared interest in advancing regional capital markets. He highlighted the importance of knowledge and experience exchange in identifying areas for further cooperation and strengthening respective markets. The collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency, integration, and competitiveness of capital markets, reinforcing their role as a key driver of economic growth and sustainable development in the region.

Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange, stated that the visit signifies continued collaboration progress with Bahrain Bourse, providing an opportunity for both teams to exchange expertise in strategic and operational areas. He expressed his commitment to ongoing joint efforts to support the development of the two markets and greater collaboration across GCC capital markets.

Through the ongoing MOU, both exchanges continue to strengthen institutional ties and create opportunities for practical knowledge exchange, supporting the development, integration, and competitiveness of capital markets in Bahrain, Oman, and the wider GCC.
