Manama:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Stephen Doughty, the UK's Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss bilateral ties and regional issues.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the strong and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the UK, emphasizing the development of relations across various sectors. The discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest to support shared objectives and promote regional security and stability.
The leaders addressed recent regional developments, particularly the disruptions in maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab, and their effects on energy, food supplies, international trade, and the global economy. They also explored continued coordination during Bahrain's tenure as an elected member of the UN Security Council and exchanged views on mutual interests.
Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaie, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations, were also in attendance.
