Manama: The Supreme Council for Environment of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China have signed a pivotal agreement focusing on aquaculture, fish farming, and fisheries within Bahrain. This agreement is a part of the fifth phase of the technical cooperation program between the two nations, aimed at fostering collaboration in environmental, food security, and sustainable development sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the signing ceremony was officiated by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs. The event was attended by Ni Ruchi, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain, who presented the text signed by Wang Wentao, the Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak emphasized that the agreement aligns with national strategies to bolster food security and enhance fisheries resources, underscoring the robust relations and strategic cooperation between Bahrain and China. He highlighted the project's goal of advancing Bahrain's aquaculture sector through the development of an integrated facility employing modern technologies. This initiative aims to support technology transfer, build national capacities, and promote environmental sustainability while safeguarding natural resources and fostering sustainable development.
The Chinese Ambassador remarked that the agreement signifies a progressive stage in the bilateral partnership for aquaculture. He pointed out China's commitment to supporting the project through implementation and providing technical expertise and advanced technologies.
