Cairo:The Arab Parliament has approved proposals from the Bahraini delegation aimed at bolstering Arab solidarity and enhancing parliamentary coordination in response to recent regional challenges. The approval came during the opening sitting of the third session of the Arab Parliament's fourth legislative term, chaired by Speaker Saad Al Otaibi at the League of Arab States headquarters.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini proposals include an urgent official visit by a committee delegation to the Saudi Shura Council. This visit is intended to reaffirm Arab solidarity with Saudi Arabia following attacks by the Houthi militia. Another proposal involves holding regular video conferencing meetings between Arab parliamentary committees and their counterparts across the Arab world to strengthen coordination and promote unified positions on common issues.
The Arab Parliament issued a statement condemning the Houthi militia's repeated terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia, highlighting the threat these pose to Saudi, Arab, and international peace and security.
Dr. Hesham Ahmed Al Asheeri emphasized Bahrain's legislative modernization efforts to improve the judicial system, while Mohammed Salman Al Ahmed stressed the importance of enhancing Arab parliamentary cooperation, particularly in education, to develop legislation and address shared challenges.
