Paris: Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the French Republic and Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Bahrain to UNESCO, participated in the 224th session of the Executive Board of UNESCO, held in Paris. The ambassador delivered the Kingdom of Bahrain's statement during the general debate, expressing the Kingdom's strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which resulted in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure and vital civilian facilities, including educational institutions and universities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Jassim affirmed that such acts constitute a violation of international laws and norms and pose a threat to regional security and stability. He further emphasised that the repeated Iranian attacks have exacerbated challenges related to protecting critical infrastructure in the education and media sectors, as well as preserving cultural and humanitarian heritage and archaeological sites.
Al Jassim also reviewed the measures and steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to ensure the continuity of the educational process, enhancing its ability to address current circumstances while maintaining the quality of education. At the international level, he highlighted the adoption of Resolution 2817 (2026) by the United Nations Security Council, affirming that the resolution reflects the international community's commitment to maintaining stability and strengthening respect for international law.
He reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's position in supporting education, culture, and communication as key pillars of stability, development, and international cooperation.
