Manama: Sirens warning of potential aerial threats sounded in Bahrain early on Wednesday amid the latest escalation between the US and Iran. Bahrain's Ministry of Interior said in a post on X: "A danger is present. The Ministry of Interior calls upon citizens and residents to adhere to calm, head to the nearest safe place, and follow the news through official channels, to safeguard public safety."
According to Deutsche Welle, Bahrain is home to a major US naval base where the 5th Fleet is headquartered and has previously been targeted by Tehran. In response to the heightened tensions, the alert serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the public and military personnel in the region.
Meanwhile, Kuwait, another US ally in the Mideast region, reported repelling attacks by "hostile" Iranian drones. The Kuwaiti defense forces remain on high alert, ensuring that any threats to their airspace are promptly addressed and neutralized to maintain regional security.
The recent developments underscore the fragile state of affairs in the Gulf, where geopolitical tensions continue to rise. Both Bahrain and Kuwait are closely coordinating with their international allies to monitor the situation and maintain stability in the region.
