Manama: Arabian Gulf University's Center for Consultancy and Training has opened registration for the sixth cohort of its Professional Diploma in Waste Management. The program is offered in collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Biological Studies at the university's College of Education, Administrative and Technical Sciences.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the new cohort is scheduled to begin in November 2026. The program, which was launched in October 2021, is accredited by the UK-based Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) and supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) West Asia Office.
Five cohorts have already graduated from the program, featuring participants from public and private sector institutions across Bahrain, GCC countries, and several Arab states. The diploma covers the latest practices in sustainable and integrated waste management, encompassing municipal, medical, industrial, commercial, and agricultural waste, including hazardous and non-hazardous types. It also addresses environmental innovation, the circular economy, the water-energy-food nexus, sustainable alternatives, and modern technologies that support environmental sustainability.
The program is delivered through a blended learning model that combines in-person and virtual classes, taught by international experts and specialists in waste management. It is designed for managerial leaders, professionals, technicians, recent graduates, and others seeking to enhance their expertise in sustainable waste management.
The program aims to develop professional and leadership capabilities in waste management and promote sustainable production and consumption, resource efficiency, and circular economy principles. It views waste as a resource that can be transformed into environmental, economic, and social value, while supporting regional sustainability objectives and national development priorities.
