NCST’s Engineering and IT Tracks Now Equivalent to Science and Math Secondary Education

Manama:The Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST) has achieved a significant milestone as its advanced engineering and information technology tracks have been recognized as equivalent to the science and mathematics track of the secondary school certificate. This development follows collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Education to align curricula.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the recognition is a result of the ongoing work to align the educational competencies of the Centre's advanced tracks with the scientific competencies outlined in the Ministry's curriculum framework. This move is aimed at strengthening the integration of education and training in specialized fields, thereby supporting students' transitions to higher education with relevant scientific knowledge and practical skills.

The equivalency encompasses advanced engineering tracks in the fields of robotics and automation, mechanics, and electrical engineering and electronics. It also includes information technology specializations such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. The approval was granted following technical reviews and coordination between specialists at the Ministry and NCST, ensuring the curricula, study plans, learning outcomes, assessment, and practical applications meet academic, scientific, and technical requirements.

Dr. Abdulla Naser Al Noaimi, Chief Executive Officer of NCST, emphasized that this equivalency reflects the Centre's vision of providing access to university-level scientific education while maintaining advanced technical specialization benefits. He noted that integrating these tracks with the science and mathematics track strengthens the Centre's efforts to offer educational options responsive to industrial and technological changes. This initiative is part of NCST's strategic vision to prepare Bahraini talent for contributing to the development of Bahrain's industry and its global competitiveness.

Dr. Al Noaimi expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for its cooperation and support, commending the joint efforts to review and align the programs, ensuring that equivalency requirements were met and educational quality maintained. He highlighted this achievement as a strategic step towards developing an integrated education system that links school education with university specializations and future careers. Dr. Al Noaimi added that NCST will continue to develop its programs in alignment with approved frameworks and national priorities, enabling students to apply their scientific and technical skills to development and supporting the education, development, and youth empowerment goals under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
