Manama:Bahrain Bourse has taken part in National Tree Week by organizing a tree-planting activity at Bahrain Financial Harbour. This initiative supports the Kingdom's efforts to enhance green spaces and work towards achieving carbon neutrality.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was attended by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Bourse, along with the Bourse's executive management team. This participation aligns with the National Action Plan to Achieve Carbon Neutrality, as announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and follows the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
National Tree Week is part of Bahrain's National Afforestation Plan, which seeks to double the number of trees in the Kingdom to 3.6 million by the year 2035. This goal is consistent with Bahrain's commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim emphasized that the Bourse's involvement reflects its dedication to afforestation and environmental sustainability. This effort contributes to the national environmental objectives and aims to create greener communities for future generations. He noted that the initiative is in line with recommendations from the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, the World Federation of Exchanges, and the Net Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance.
