King Hamad Global Centre Supports National Tree Week with Tree Planting Initiative

Manama:The King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance has actively participated in National Tree Week, aligning with the National Action Plan initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality as announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dr. Majeed Al Asfour, a board member of the Center's Board of Trustees, took part in the event by planting several trees within the Centre's outdoor grounds, alongside Muneera Nofal Al Doseri, the Centre's Executive Director, and other staff members.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Asfour emphasized the significance of Tree Week, which was launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted its role in promoting community involvement in environmental initiatives and fostering a sense of shared responsibility for safeguarding the environment and natural resources.

Dr. Al Asfour also reiterated the Centre's dedication to supporting national efforts to meet the afforestation plan's target of doubling the tree population to 3.6 million by 2035. This commitment aligns with Bahrain's obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the Centre's engagement in Tree Week is part of its broader efforts to enhance social responsibility and environmental sustainability. This is achieved through various awareness initiatives and the Green Houses of Worship programme, which advocates for sustainable practices and the efficient use of resources to bolster society's role in environmental conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources.
