Moscow:Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), took part in the Global Digital Forum 2026 in Russia, a prominent event focused on digital transformation and its impact on urban applications.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Khayyat underscored the significance of digital twins and artificial intelligence in enhancing urban planning strategies. He noted these technologies as essential tools that help predict and evaluate the outcomes of planning decisions, thereby increasing efficiency and supporting human-centric urban development and governance.
Al Khayyat further elaborated on UPDA's initiatives to establish a planning framework utilizing spatial data and geographic information systems (GIS). This approach is aimed at fostering data-driven planning to improve processes and inform decision-making.
In a panel discussion, he detailed several UPDA projects designed to implement strategic, long-term plans that prioritize quality of life and sustainability in Bahrain's urban development.
Al Khayyat also engaged in bilateral meetings with international officials, experts, and company representatives to discuss collaboration and knowledge exchange in digital transformation and smart urban planning. Furthermore, he consulted with real estate developers in Moscow to examine international best practices in urban projects, focusing on sustainable and efficient city development.
