Manama:Crown Prince Centre: The Royal Medical Services (RMS) hosted its annual Scientific Research Day 2026 at the Crown Prince Centre for Training and Medical Research. The event was attended by Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was marked by the presence of various dignitaries including Defence Affairs Minister Lieutenant General Abdulla bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Health Minister Dr Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Commander of the RMS Major General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, along with other officials, medical professionals, and researchers.
In his address, Major General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa underscored the critical role of scientific research in advancing healthcare, improving medical practices, and patient outcomes. He highlighted the significance of bolstering research as a cornerstone of medical progress and expressed gratitude for the support of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health in enhancing Bahrain's healthcare sector and scientific research initiatives.
The programme included a presentation outlining the centre's major achievements and future plans. Dr Mohammed Al Muharraqi, the centre's Director, emphasized the importance of supporting medical research and academic development and fostering an environment that encourages researchers and healthcare professionals.
During the event, awards were presented for notable research contributions. Dr Hussam Noor received the Best Multicentre Collaborative Research Paper Award, Dr Anis Al Shaer was honored with the Best Published Research Paper Award, and Dr Abdulrahman Al Zayani was awarded the Best Research Innovation Project Award, accepted on his behalf by Dr Rashid Al Doseri. Dr Reem Mohammed Al Bin Zaid received the Best Scientific Poster Presentation Award, and Rahaf Khalid Al Deihani was given the Young Innovator Award.
The Bahrain Oncology Centre was recognized with the Highest Research Productivity Facility Award within the RMS, accepted by Dr Nouf Al Shaibani on behalf of the centre's CEO, Dr Edward Rowland, for the team's significant scientific research output.
Senior guests were invited to tour the research exhibition that accompanied the event, followed by a scientific forum that provided a platform for showcasing research projects, discussing ideas, and exchanging expertise among participants.
The event concluded with a focus on expanding multidisciplinary research cooperation, encouraging promising scientific initiatives and innovative projects, and translating research findings into practical applications and advanced medical solutions to support scientific and medical progress in Bahrain.
