Speaker Condemns Houthi Attack on Madinah Electricity Station

Madinah:Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has strongly condemned the ongoing terrorist attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, specifically targeting the Taibah electricity distribution station in Madinah, which provides power to the Prophet's Mosque.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam emphasized that these attacks endanger civilians, violate the sanctity of holy sites and mosques, and provoke the sentiments of Muslims globally. Furthermore, he stated that such actions constitute a blatant violation of international laws, including international humanitarian law, and the charters of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In communication with Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, Al Musallam expressed full parliamentary solidarity with Saudi Arabia, highlighting the nation's religious significance as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He underscored that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are vital components of Bahrain's national security.

The Speaker also conveyed the Council of Representatives' support for Bahrain's appeal to the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities. He urged the council to take a decisive stance to stop the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks, hold perpetrators accountable, and ensure the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 (2015) and 2817 (2026), which call for an end to support for proxy forces.
