Manama: The King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC) organised a dialogue session titled "Shared Ground: A Dialogue on Shared Values Among Religious Communities" on the occasion of the International Day of Peace. The session gathered representatives from various religious communities and places of worship in the Kingdom, alongside ambassadors, government officials, and members of the Centre's Board of Trustees, as well as religious and intellectual figures interested in dialogue and coexistence.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote values of coexistence, tolerance, and interfaith as well as intercultural dialogue. The Kingdom continues to advance this approach under the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in support of a culture of peace, understanding, and mutual respect.
Shaikha Maryam bint Humood Al Khalifa, Acting Director of Coexistence at KHGC, stressed the importance of peace as a daily practice in communities, human relationships, and places of worship. She noted that meaningful dialogue stems from understanding and respecting diversity, building upon shared values to strengthen peace and serve society.
The session explored the contributions of religious communities to Bahraini society, the role of places of worship in strengthening community engagement, and the importance of humanitarian action as a value shared across faiths. Participants exchanged experiences that demonstrated solidarity and good neighbourliness, highlighting the role of religious values and teachings in building peace and promoting respect and understanding. They underscored the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation among different religious communities to reinforce a culture of coexistence and social cohesion.
