Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, stated that the visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Hellenic Republic opens new prospects for bilateral cooperation and coordination, building on the longstanding historical ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hellenic Republic.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh commended His Majesty's remarks during his meeting with His Excellency Constantine An. Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Republic. He noted His Majesty the King's reference to the shared heritage of the Greek and Dilmun civilizations, mentioning that Bahrain was known as Tylos more than 23 centuries ago.
Al Saleh also highlighted His Majesty's emphasis on diversity and dialogue among cultures and religions as foundations for peace and coexistence. The Chairman pointed out the focus during the talks on safeguarding freedom of navigation and the security of waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab, which is based on international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, ensuring the protection of international trade and the smooth functioning of supply chains.
He praised HE President Tassoulas's solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and his condemnation of the Iranian attacks against Bahrain and other countries in the region. Al Saleh reiterated the Shura Council's commitment to building on the outcomes of the visit by enhancing parliamentary coordination and exchanging expertise with the Greek Parliament in support of the shared interests of the two countries.
