Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, stated that the visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Hellenic Republic marked an important step in the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hellenic Republic, based on mutual respect, longstanding relations, and shared interests.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker highlighted that the visit reflected His Majesty the King's strategy to enhance Bahrain's international presence and expand cooperation with other countries, thereby advancing political and economic relations in favor of the Kingdom's interests and its development process. Al Musallam praised the successful outcomes of His Majesty's discussions with His Excellency Constantine An. Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Republic, and His Excellency Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic. He noted the consensus on regional and international issues, particularly the importance of maintaining security and peace.
He emphasized the need to build on the longstanding relations through tangible outcomes in areas such as shipping, ports, investment, and defense, while further enhancing Bahrain's partnership with the European Union to support security and development. Al Musallam expressed appreciation for the Hellenic Republic's solidarity with Bahrain, its condemnation of Iranian attacks, and its support for United Nations resolutions.
He also noted the understandings reached during the visit on safeguarding freedom of navigation and the security of international waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global trade and energy security. He stressed the need for international efforts to ensure safe navigation and prevent threats.
Al Musallam affirmed that the Council of Representatives supports the visit's outcomes and is ready to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with the Greek Parliament through diplomacy and exchanges. He stated these efforts align with the leaderships' commitment to advancing cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
