Manama: Formula 1 and the F©d©ration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have unveiled the 2027 Formula 1 calendar, confirming Bahrain as the venue for both the season opener and pre-season testing. The announcement follows the approval of the full 2027 calendar by the World Motorsport Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the first race of the 2027 season is scheduled to occur at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) from March 12 to 14. It marks the seventh time Bahrain has opened the Formula 1 season. Additionally, the BIC will host pre-season testing from February 24 to 27.
In a historic move, Bahrain will also host its first-ever Sprint Race as part of the 2027 season-opening weekend. This addition promises increased excitement for fans, offering competitive racing throughout the three-day event.
Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of BIC, expressed honor in hosting both the pre-season testing and the season-opening race, which will feature the inaugural Sprint Race weekend. As the current year's Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia approaches its final stages, anticipation builds for Formula 1's return to BIC, regarded as the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East. Shaikh Salman described this as a celebratory homecoming and a weekend filled with entertainment for fans locally and globally.
He also noted that the upcoming year will be the second season under the present regulations, which have already led to competitive racing. He urged fans to register their interest for tickets, inviting them to join in the motorsport celebration.
The newly announced 2027 calendar confirms a 24-race season, including the return of Portugal on June 20 and Trkiye on October 3. After Bahrain's testing and season opener, the F1 circuit will proceed to Saudi Arabia. Following events in Australia, Japan, China, Miami, and Canada, the European season will commence in Monaco on June 6. The season will continue with races in Asia and the Americas, concluding on December 12 in Abu Dhabi.
