Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (48) of 2026, initiating a comprehensive restructuring of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). This decision comes based on a proposal by the Minister of Interior and subsequent approval by the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the restructuring outlines a new organizational framework for the iGA, designating a Chief Executive at the rank of Undersecretary. The Chief Executive will oversee several directorates, each tasked with distinct responsibilities. These include the Directorate of Communications and Marketing, Directorate of Human and Financial Resources, Directorate of Strategic Planning and Projects, and the Directorate of Innovation and Advanced Technologies.
The decree further delineates the role of Deputy Chief Executives, each at the rank of Assistant Undersecretary, responsible for specific operational areas. The Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registry will manage directorates focusing on population and demographic statistics, economic statistics, and identity and population registry.
In addition, the Deputy Chief Executive for Operations and Governance will supervise directorates related to infrastructure services, government systems support and maintenance, and geographical information systems. The eTransformation Deputy Chief Executive will lead directorates centered on change management, eServices development, eChannels development, and government systems development.
The Deputy Chief Executive for Shared Information Technology Services will coordinate various directorates involved in IT services and digital transformation across government entities. This restructuring ensures a focused approach to managing shared IT services and enterprise architecture.
Any existing provisions conflicting with the new decree will be repealed, and the Minister of Interior is tasked with implementing these changes as they take effect from the date of issuance in the Official Gazette.
